pendulum, one moment trading itself for another

Hope Wang presents a series of site-responsive work at The Fields for Chicago Textile Week. pendulum, one moment trading itself for another draws from both the present architecture and its history as a textile factory; repurposing and overlaying images of the operating Olson Rug Factory with images of The Fields’ renovated lobby space. Additionally, the installation includes clay impressions—and their corresponding rubbing drawings—of found patterns in and around the building. This series of work approaches architecture through the language of textiles in considering how memory, texture, material, pattern overlay each other in the structure of lived environments.
